It’s been just a few days after Ovi store was opened, but there are already some early leaders. One of the clear leaders by revenue is currently Gravity by Mobileways – a touch optimized twitter client for S60 5.0 phones such as Nokia N97. Unfortunately the developer’s site and Ovi store description don’t tell much about the workflow. So here is the video review of Gravity. For those who don’t have time, here is the main conclusion: Gravity is a decent twitter client in style of Twhirl + keyword searches, but without any TweetDeck-like user grouping.

KitTwitts is small free twitter-related application that was just yesterday released for Nokia N97. I say twitter-related, because it is focused on a very narrow task. It allows you to search twitter for a particular keyword or phrase, displays result in a nice “flashy” way and can open the twitter page of a tweet author. I don’t think anybody would use it as the primary or even secondary twitter client, but it may help you spend some minutes in airport looking at what happens on yet another Apple event you want to follow. What you may not notice in the beginning is two small pieces of advertisement above and below the search result. When clicked KiTwitts opens the web browser with the full ad. I guess the real purpose of this application was exactly the proof of concept of how an application could use twitter API and be paid by ads. As a side effect we’ve got a nice application to play with in the free time, but what I really hope for is the full twitter client powered by ads in a similar way. If there is a business model behind, it could be the next big thing in the mobile phone applications.

And by the way, this application doesn’t support the landscape mode at all, you get all sorts of funny effects if you try using in the landscape mode and/or use the hardware keyboard. In fact if you start the application while the device is open, you won’t be able to use the application at all. So despite the fact that it was released for N97, it is really more of a 5800 clone.

Starting from today you can buy the Nokia’s flagship multimedia computer in New York and Chicago. Unlocked on is $699.. the price makes some iPhone lovers surprised.

Nokia was always known for its smartphones everywhere except US. There are many models that are masterpieces featuring the latest and greatest. Once in a while, however, Nokia releases particularly unique products destined to be iconic and adored combination of the top technologies available on the market. Some time ago N95 attracted wide attention due to its five megapixel camera, large amount of memory, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc.

Nokia N97 is a new player in the best smartphones league. From time to time is is named the first serious Nokia attempt to compete with iPhone. While Nokia devices may be not as simple as the ones made by the fruit company, the killer set of features makes N97 a decent competitor for the demanding users.

Here are some goodies that you can find inside N97. Some of them made Scobl to call N97 the ultimate facebook device.

• Homescreen customizable with widget. Yes, facebook and weather updates are included.
• Full QWERTY keyboard hidden under an excellent side slider.
• New release of Nokia maps that provides turn-by-turn navigation, city guides and uses the built-in compass very well. No more guessing about the street direction!
• 5 megapixel camera and 32 GB of build-in storage + ability to add a memory card.
• Fast internet with Wi-Fi at home and HSDPA speed (very fast 3G basically) outside.
• Good browser with the Flash and YouTube support.
• All that usable with both keyboard and a touch screen (no multi-touch yet).
• Ovi store that is just like iPhone’s app store for Nokia.
• Etc, etc, etc.

The last but not least is that Nokia N97 with its loads of memory, touch screen and generous Ovi store makes an excellent platform for 3rd party developers. I would be surprised if very soon we won’t be seeing a wave of new applications unleashing all the potential of this device.
